day one of awesome week was definitely an awesome one! good ole 5x500m at goal 800m pace (which is 74 for 400m) with 5min (much needed) rest between reps. this workout is basically the battle of all battles mentally. i feel very happy with how it went though because i stayed happy and had positive thoughts for almost the entire workout! the last 200m of the last rep was rough and i let myself slow down, but happy to say i picked it back up with 100m to go. just for kicks, my 400m splits were 74 75 77 80 78. the times that jamie was calling out were about a second faster for all but the first one, but this is what i got on my watch. i feel so dead now but it was a good day! shoutout to my absolutely amazing team for being so awesome and to my bro because he's so speedy and to dallin because he's home (YAY!) and killed it today :)

my foot doesn't feel broken anymore so that's good news :') #blessed. mystery whistle hills in falcon gorge! felt like i really pushed myself and my arms are sore from pumping them so hard!! i think we did 11 reps (not sure since it was a mystery haha) and it was anywhere from 15-30sec sprint up the hill. fun times! great day with dal, my very best pal :)

orange and gray meet today and our speed workout was racing! did a few miles before the race and then did the mile. just wanted to stay with watson and mario, which went well! but wishing i would have kicked a little harder at the end! next time :) good thing there's another workout on saturday so i can redeem myself ;) ran a 5:41 which i wasn't disappointed with given that we already had two days of speed this week haha. feel like i had more in me though! cheered my heart out for my awesome team and then ran the 4x400m which was so much fun!! i got to anchor and i felt so fast and it hurt so bad and i loved it :) what a wonderful day.

my foot has been swelling up over the past few days and it hurt quite a bit today with movement and pressure (i think the cyst might be coming back?) so i biked 50min endurance ride. just wanna feel good for tomorrow!

today was the legendary 20x400m workout and i feel so blessed because 1) i have an amazing team 2) the weather was so beautiful and 3) my foot feels better and didn't hurt at all while i ran or after! :) we did four sets: first set of 5x400m at current 5k pace (96) with 1min rest, second set of 5x400m at goal 2mile pace (89) with 1:30min rest, third set of 5x400m at current mile pace (83-84) with 2min rest, and last set of 5x400m at goal mile pace (82) with 3min rest. i think this workout is a lot of fun :) my splits were 95 94 96 94 95 87 89 89 86 91 (yikes!) 83 85 84 82 81 82 78 79 75 76 (and once again these differ from the times that were called out, but this is what i got on my watch...) i felt pretty good about it although i have a hard time finding pace, which explains why my splits were sort of all over the place! i feel good about it and i feel like it was a great way to end my last awesome week ever!! yummy breakfast after so shoutout to our wonderful coaches and parents for that :)

woohoo tri-meet today!! raced the mile and my goal was just to stay with watson. i felt really good and it didn't feel like we were going very fast for the first 2.5 laps but then i started feeling it haha. i was way happy with it because i felt like i stayed positive, relaxed, and confident. next time, i want to have a faster final lap to keep improving my kick :) shoutout to dalpal for racing a killer 400m!

easy speed workout today. 9x200m with 2min rest between each. the first 3 slower than mile pace (43-44), next 3 at current mile (41-42), and last 3 at goal mile (40-41). hit 44 43 43 40 39 40 37 36 34. my shins have been kinda bothering me over the last couple of days but i think my body is just needing a good recovery from last week. abs and hips

abs and hips and negative split run. my first mile was 8:17 and last was 6:38 and it actually felt pretty easy! also, got to run when it was snowing so that was beautiful #winning :)

speedy speed workout today ;) everything at goal 800m pace--did 2x400m with 4min rest (goal is 74) 3x200m with 2min rest (goal is 37) 4x100m with 1min rest (goal is 18). my splits were 72 71 35 36 35 18 17 16 15 and i was definitely happy with it! twosday abs and hips. shoutout to my awesome cousin holly for some killer races at the jr high track meet!

my legs felt pretty fatigued when we warmed up and did strides, which i was not really expecting. but i still felt confident and ready to race! the weather was perfect for our race and i was definitely grateful for that :) not my best race mentally because my legs weren't feeling good from the beginning and i let that get to me. i felt like i had a strong kick though... so that's a win! haha my arms hurt for the whole last lap from pumping them so hard! even if it wasn't a pr, i'm still glad to be consistent! headed home after the race and had a fantastic night at morp with dal so shoutout to him for being a gr8 d8 :)

did the classic 9xsomethings w/60sec rest workout, woohoo! run 300m until you are more than 2sec off pace and then move down to 200m and move down to 100m if necessary... i added a couple of seconds to my goal time because there was super strong wind for the entire backstretch and curve. got 7x300m and the last one was off pace so i moved down to 200m for the last 2 reps. that workout is so killer both physically and mentally, but i was proud of how i did today :)

warmed up and barely made it before my heat was walking to the starting line, yikes! that's okay, at least i was warm for my race ;) i felt good and thought i was making some good moves and surges, but i'm sure there is more i can do! felt like i ran faster than i ever have before so i was pretty disappointed when i found out i didn't pr. i really wanted to break 5:30 and felt like the conditions were perfect to do so! not today, but it's alright! talked to jamie and she says i need to do something during the third lap or it will always be slower, that's just how it is. that's what i will work on next time! i did stay positive throughout the whole race, which i was proud of :) shoutout to dal and gan for being great pals!
